# Facebook

New public Facebook posts that name your keyword, from people and pages, with reactions, comments and shares.

Mentio searches Facebook for new public posts and keeps those whose text contains your keyword. Facebook's own search is loose, so Mentio checks every result against the keyword itself.

| `platform` | `facebook` |
| ----------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| What is found | Text of new public posts by people and pages, and the link a post shares |
| Freshness | About every 6 hours; a quiet keyword slows down to once a day |
| Last 30 days on a new keyword | Yes, up to the newest 10 |

## What a mention carries [#what-a-mention-carries]

* `post.text`: the post's text, plus the link it shares when the text does not already carry it.
* `post.engagement`: reactions (as likes), comments (as replies) and shares (as reposts).
* `author`: name, profile or page link and avatar. Facebook does not show follower counts in search.

The rest is the same on every platform: relevance, sentiment and intent from the classifier, your triage, and the keyword it matched. See the [mention shape](/api).

## Mute an author [#mute-an-author]

`facebook.com/name`, a post link (it names its author), `facebook.com/profile.php?id=…`, or the name alone. Group, watch and share links name no one and are refused. See [Mute authors](/alerts#mute-authors).

## Limits [#limits]

* Only public posts that Facebook's search shows to a logged-out visitor. Posts in private groups and posts shared with friends are never found.
* Comments under a post are not searched, only the post itself.
* Keywords created before Facebook was added (November 2026) keep the platforms they had: turn Facebook on per keyword.
